• Love Roku. The Ultra is awesome. We have 2 Roku Streaming Sticks and a Roku 3. Couple these with Plex Media Server, we never have to worry about having something entertaining to watch. And as usual walmart in store pickup was great.
• Not enough instructions came with unit. If you want to turn it off, you have to unplug it. Limited instructions did not tell you why. Once I got it hooked up it was great.
• Bought as a spare tire for problematic cable tv service. Roku runs off the house wifi, which is high speed and unlimited in my case. Those with slower service or with data caps in their contract may not find Roku quite as attractive. I love the performance of Roku (on my data plan). Many, probably most, are using this for the purpose of cutting the cable. I can use it in my house as a backup for when the cable tv service fails. I use the Roku app for the cable service I pay for, and Voila!, there’s all my stuff live, even the local stations. I got the Roku Ultra which has some very nice bells and whistles at a very attractive price. The remote is non-directional radio wave (like Playstation) rather than infra-red, so you can place the head unit out of sight. The head unit has a state of the art (at the time of this writing) quad core processor capable of handling 4k streams. Does all my streams from Netflix and my cable provider with aplomb. FYI, this is only for live streaming without DVR capability. I like mine quite well, and the price is right.
• Great alternative to cable TV. Works well with Hulu and Netflix. LOVE this more than I expected too.
• We upgraded from a Roku XD to this. Fast loads, no buffering on apps. Great improvement on video quality. Futureproof for upgrading to a 4K TV.
• I decided to upgrade from my old Roku which was getting old and slow. The new Roku connects better with the live stream from my church (Willow Creek Community Church in Barrington Illinois: Willow Creek TV app). I also like the fact that it comes with ear buds that you plug into the remote. The volume control is excellent, especially when streaming YouTube content or Netflix. It’s a little on the expensive side $119.00 but it is well made and I plan on using it for a long time. I am going to give my old Roku to my brother for Christmas.
• We finally decided to let go of cable and bought this as our 2nd Roku. It is SO FAST compared to the Roku Stick! I’m half tempted to replace our Roku stick with a second Roku Ultra and give the stick away as a gift! The response of the Roku Ultra is light-years ahead of what we had with the Roku Stick. Not to mention, if you’re anything like me and forget that you sat the remote down next to you while watching a movie (say in Netflix) and you accidentally exit yourself (completely irritating) so you press the Netflix button to go back in and start where you left off it takes you right to the movie and starts it up. No more selecting the profile, waiting for it to load, selecting the movie, waiting for that to load…. it’s just *BOOM* automatic. Buh-bye Cable and your nightmare $170 monthly bills. I save $100 / month starting the month after purchasing my new Roku Ultra even after buying a few extra channels and i get to watch what I want when I want. I would completely recommend this to everyone: 1) major cost savings after initial purchase 2) huge selection 3) super easy setup (plug and play) 4) Ease of use
• I bought a brand new Sony 4K tv 65″ and tried to install Roku ultra but but Roku wasnt worked on this. I called Roku customer service and expended a lot time like more then 30 min to someone help me and nobody to setup it but nobody was able to help me. It seems those employees wasn’t trained properly. Anyways im not happy and I’m not recommend this product.
