• This bench is perfect! It literally came in 3 pieces to put together! The drawers are already installed which is great! It took me less than 15 mins to install. It’s gorgeous. Light weight but so sturdy.
• I live in an old manufacturing town. The look of this bench reminds me of the old wood and metal throughout the iron works and spinning mills that no longer exist. Our city has restored and repurposed so much of the interior treasures that were inside. When I see this bench, I see a modern version of this beauty. This is a small bench, so be sure you consider the measurements. I like the size because it doesn’t fill up too much space but still does exactly what I need. It’s an extra seat in the room if you can steal it back from the pets! It will not tip over, it is very, very sturdy and stable. I believe it is solid wood. The drawer may be a particle board, but that doesn’t concern me. It really isn’t big enough for much, maybe mail, keys, leashes and flashlights. The drawer measures 21-1/2″ across,11-1/4″ deep, 1-1/2″ tall and holds up to 10 lbs. The entire bench measures as follows: 40″ across, 15-3/4″ deep (drawer closed), 18″ tall. The bottom shelf is 31-1/2″ across, 11-1/4″ deep. There is an 11″ clearance between drawer and bottom shelf. This gives enough room if bins or baskets are chosen for storage. I like the open back on the shelf. I prefer natural light over a dark and dust filled cubby any day. I stood on the scale and weighed it at 46 lbs, I could be off just a touch but if anything it would weigh more. This thing is solid. According to the instruction booklet, the bench weight limit is 100 lbs with the bottom shelf at 20 lbs. I can understand the shelf, but I don’t believe the bench is correct. This bench has got to be able to hold twice that! I think it maybe referring to 100 lbs of force against it to separate it from the leg support. I got it for the entryway, but when I received it I noticed it looked almost the same as our bedroom furniture so I checked it out at the foot of the bed. It’s almost a perfect match, just pretty enough that I’m ordering another one for the entryway where it was supposed to go all along! It was packaged well, instructions and hardware included, easy, easy to assemble, no defects or scratches. Recommendations are to verify size is right for you, pictures can be deceiving. If size is good…buy it. Will not disappoint!!
• Better Homes and Gardens Preston Park Entryway Bench in the Dark Oak finish would be a great addition to anyones entryway. The color is deep and rich without being too dark that it shows ever bit of lint, fuzz, dirt or dust. It can be adorned with pillows and cushions to add in hints of color so you can adjust it for any season. The bench also has a pull out drawer that can be used to store smaller items. It is not very tall so perhaps something you would need by the entryway like spare keys, a flashlight or dog leashes. The bench comes in one very large box. The box itself is very heavy and bulky. It even has the diagram showing two people lift team required and heed that warning. The same can also be said when it comes to taking the parts out of the box. I recommend getting help. I did it alone and ended up spending approximately 10 minutes fighting to get it out of the shipping box and the box it came in. The assembly process took me approximately 20 minutes but that did include locating a screwdriver to assist with assembly. The bench does go together quickly with only a few steps required. Once the bench is assembled and put upright it is very sturdy. I currently have mine in our basement and we use it as a bench to put on our shoes as we are heading out the door. It has held up well despite one small dent in one of the supports. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to add a sitting area or beautiful accent bench to their home.
• When the bench arrived it had an outer protection on each corner of the box and plastic wrap to protect it. Thanks for that because it would have been a big disappointment if it had any chips or knicks. I thought I would spend some time with assembly but it only had four pieces. So easy my 9 year old could read the directions and helped put it together in about 20 minutes. The bench is the perfect size for the entryway of my small 13×10 living space. I love the dark oak it goes well with my Better Home and Gardens entertainment center. The craftsmanship and sturdiness of the wood this bench is made from eases my worry about my two children sitting on it as they prepare to head our the door. The design is really nice and the addition of a drawer made into the bench is a wonderful surprise for storing keys or other small items. Its roomy enough underneath to place baskets for miscellaneous storage and the kids shoes. So far I have not been disappointed with this brand. I would definitely recommend Better Home and Garden furniture to my friends and family. Great prices and value.

• I am a full-time associate for Walmart.com and are entering this review as part of a contest. With that said, the Better Homes & Gardens came in and demo’d the product and this was my favorite set. I live in a small apartment in San Francisco, and the little space I have is all open. I love that they have a diverse line within this set so you can get a matching dinning table, bench, desk, and coffee table. The simple design is what I liked most about the set. I currently have a shoe rack by my entry, but I think this bench is a much classier touch.
