The desk itself looks awesome but it has already chipped on one side . But my son does love it and it does look nice.
Great product for the price. It was easy to put together and no missing parts.
This floating desk is fabulous. It Is easy to assemble, although it took longer than a half hour. It is both inconspicuous and prominent at the same time. Inconspicuous by taking up less space than you could imagine. Prominent by making a bold and stylish statement. And All At A Reasonable Price. HAVE FUN Your Faithful Patron
I needed a modest desk/shelf setup in my home, just a small space where I can pay bills, or the where my kids can do their homework. A nice nook to store mailing supplies, a few books and such. The Altra Furniture Wall-Mounted Desk seemed like it would be a good fit for my needs. The product arrived unassembled, weighing about 100 pounds, with detailed instructions on how to put it together. I left this task to my husband and teenage son. My husband can literally take an airplane engine apart and put it together. My son is incredibly intelligent. I assumed this wouldn’t be too much for them. They were able to put it together without losing their minds, but it did take a number of hours to do. My husband estimated that if he had been working alone, it probably would have taken 4 hours to complete. Mounting the assembled desk was a complete nightmare for us. The way the product is designed, it MUST be firmly bolted/nailed to the wall. It will not safely remain upright on its own. The problem we had was no fault of the designers. We couldn’t find vertical studs in the wall where we were mounting the desk. Ours is an older home, and we were only able to find one horizontal stud, which we were able to attach to the main wall attachment for the desk. The other attachments had to be carefully installed into the drywall using some extra hardware we had to buy on our own. It was a very frustrating process. Again, this is no fault of the desk designer’s. The wall we chose simply wasn’t the best one for the product. Now that the desk is installed, I do like it and enjoy how it looks in my home. My husband has sworn to never remove it from the house, even if we move one day. In the meantime, I plan to use it and enjoy it for some time to come.
I’m SO excited and honored to have this wonderful desk, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! This is a very FUNCTIONAL, SPACE-SAVING and ATTRACTIVE way to house your computer and equipment. My PC & etc. was an eyesore on a long white ugly folding table taking too much space. So, the moment I saw this desk, I knew it was PERFECT FOR MY NEEDS! It not only SAVES SPACE but is a very nice & organized way to house necessary PC components and other items (pens,pencils, etc.) I LOVE that I can now put all my small items in attractive containers on a shelf. It’s so nice to have individual shelves to store anything you need at the desk, keeping clutter out of the immediate work area. I’m also PLEASED with the COLOR of the unit (I chose ESPRESSO-deep, dark brown) and am impressed with the STURDINESS of the shelves. The desk top is a nice size (39″w x 20″ deep) and very sturdy. The open area above the desk top (for Tablet/PC/Monitor) is 27″w x 19″ h. My 19″ monitor which is 14.5″ high fits fine. ASSEMBLY: Comes with a FULL INSTRUCTION BOOK w/good pictures. ALL HARDWARE is INCLUDED: cam locks & bolts, stabilizers, etc & all pieces are identified & pictured. ‘Need to WORK in LARGE AREA. IMPORTANT: This is a 2-PERSON ASSEMBLY! At 64, I was able to assemble the entire mid-section of the unit by myself but when it came to attaching the sides, I needed a 2nd person. When finished, it REQUIRES a 2nd person to lift and help move to the desired wall to attach (can’t drag). The BEST ADVICE I can give you from my experience is to PREPARE IN ADVANCE! 1) Find a Large area to Assemble 2) Box is 95 lbs (may need help) 3) It’s a 2-PERSON PROJECT (find someone to help) 4) Check & Count the hardware before beginning and IMPORTANT: Help is Available: If you need help with anything, contact information is supplied in the Instruction Book. I needed help and got it within minutes of my request. I regret I don’t have a picture of my desk for this review but sadly that room is currently being renovated & painted. It looks exactly like the picture on the page and is beautiful! I ADORE THIS WALL-MOUNT DESK and believe YOU WILL, TOO! If you like STYLE and FUNCTION..you’ll love this! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I am fully in love with this desk. When I saw the price on it I had visions of difficult to put together nightmares and cheap material. I was very wrong. This desk is absolutely gorgeous. It is also strong, well machined and heavy duty. As for ease of use I’d challenge you to find a more convenient or easy to assemble piece of furniture, period. There were very few pieces and everything was clearly marked. The instructions were very point-and-shoot easy to follow. It took me less than 30 minutes to assemble from top to bottom and that includes removing it from the box and stopping to take pics for this review. I could not be happier. Once it was assembled placing it was a breeze. Holes are pre-drilled per standard widths for hanging on studs. It took no extra effort to put it on a wall and secure it. I’m very pleased with this product. I couldn’t list a drawback if I tried. I love the look, I loved the ease, I love the shelves and the system in place for hiding cords underneath. It blends seamlessly with my office furniture and was a knock out of the park in all arenas. Great product.
This is more of a comment than anything else. I bought what was apparently the old model of this desk and it sucked. When looking at reviews of the newer model, everyone has been given it for free…yet, not talked about as to why. Seems odd? The older version of this desk was ridiculously flimsy and I can’t believed I spent as much on it as I did. If I’m wrong with the newer version, then prove it. Thanks, needed to vent and I’d seriously like a desk that I trust. I spent over $100 and when someone touches the old version of this desk, I flinch. You should fix that.
