• What a beautiful bookcase – this Altra Landon bookcase blends class and comfort. It’s not fussy and it’s not a worn-in home look (like much of my furniture). It seems to me that it could go with modern decor or rustic decor. It definitely elevates the look in my living room. (Unfortunately, the rest of my furniture now pales in comparison.) Assembly is required and a drill, mallet, screwdriver, and a soft cloth are needed. No power tools are needed for assembly; however, a drill will be needed to drill holes in the wall to anchor the bookcase to prevent injury and provide added stability. Screws are included. The written instructions and diagrams are very helpful; however, more clarity was needed at times and could be found on the internet at altrafurniture.com. From start to end, the project took about two hours with one person building it. The directions suggest two builders. It’s certainly possible that for more experienced builders, less time will be needed. The bookcase is 43″ tall and 31″ wide. The drawer depth is 14″ and the bookcase openings are 7 3/4″. The Altra Landon bookcase can hold 20 lbs on top, 10 lbs in each drawer, and 30 lbs in each opening. I just love this bookcase. It’s offers a lot of storage and a lot of style. I’d love if there was a bedroom suite with these materials. It’s really that amazing looking. The current price, on the date of my review, is $188.86. In comparison to many similar brands offering similar features, prices are higher than the price of the Alta Landan bookcase. I noticed other reviews that mention an odor and cracked boards, that’s truly troubling. I did not have that issue. And, although I did receive this free through Spark Reviewer, I would happily buy a second one. The decor is for Halloween. (If not your taste, please disregard.)
• Just a heads up this thing is heavy!! The product was packed tightly to prevent damage. Looked exactly like the picture. I personally didn’t like how the drawers were like the fordable material. It’s held up so far. It looks very modern. Set up wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be but once it was put together I loved it. Be aware the open space wasn’t as big as expected but was useful.
• The picture of the item and what is actually delivered is not the same. The color was off, but more importAntly the quality of the material was very poor. When we tried to assemble it the MDF board cracked in several places and it had an odor to it. Very poor quality. I would not recommend this to anyone.
