- Bought today and used for the first time tonight. Appears to be a good light for it’s low price. Comes with a 3 year warranty. As stated, it is dimmable AND variable from lowest(dimmest) setting to it’s highest(brightest). There is a brighter 250 lumen model available, but this should be sufficient for most folks; I could light up beyond my 75′ backyard on highest setting. Four functions: Red, Spot & Flood(all 3 LED’s lit), Spot only, and Flood(top two LED’s lit. Every setting except Red is variably dimmable. I can’t tell you how many lumens with Flood, but it was actually sufficient by itself for up-close work. I used rechargeable AAA batteries and they worked fine. I did not do a run-down test with them though. The included 1″ headband was comfortable. The unit, in place, is not too heavy either. What I didn’t like was the pivoting “lock”. It has four positions(and these are approximations): closed, 20, 30, and 90 degrees. I was worried about breaking it because it’s hard plastic and I felt it was necessary to pull the clasp to ease it fully or partially open. 20 degrees worked best for me putting the beam just ahead of me. It was not a problem to push closed, but if I accidentally closed it I felt it was necessary to take it off my head for adjusting back to position. That’s a little awkward. One other thing I would add was that because I wear eyeglasses and are normally light-sensitive, I didn’t like the lamp on my bare head. I couldn’t rid myself of a slight glare no matter how far I positioned it upward on my brow. I put on a baseball cap and that solved the problem and it’s brim was only marginally blocking the different beams. I am happy with this purchase.
