- Before buying this bed I read the reviews like you are doing now. I was a little worried about the assembly, it was just going to be me. However….The assembly is quite easy and straight forward. I found this step by step link online http://d3f8w3yx9w99q2.cloudfront.net/1408/Tvilum-Scanbirk-Naia-Platform-Bed/23669_Assembly_Instruction.pdf Took me about an hour and a half to finish it. It is very similar to the instruction that came with it but in my opinion was much easier to follow. Just print it out and you are good to go. The bed looks amazing and is as sturdy as can be. Just a little advice to make it a little easier on you: Use a drill, and when putting it together make sure you have a lot of open room to layout all the pieces and group them together, makes it easier when looking for certain parts. - It is a really nice looking bed, and holds up well, but I did have a few complaints. My main one being that when the bed came in, it seems like two pieces were missing. The two small wooden boards that brace the center bar below the wooden slats were nowhere to be found in any of the 3 package parts I recieved. Luckily, I was able to kind of fudge it. Unfortunately, that’s what ended up happening through a lot of the assembly. Some screws did not go in properly, which forced us to have to improvise, and the instructions didn’t actually cover full assembly of the bed. It only went to a certain point, and left me to kind of guess. It seems like everyone has had a mixed time with actually putting the bed together, so my nightmare may have just been a fluke. It did take a couple of hours of frustration, but I do like how it looks. Not so much the process of getting there.
- I purchased this April of 2013 for my son’s room. I paid the neighbor $60 and a 12 pack of beer to put together this bed, the matching chest, the matching nightstand, and a chest/headboard/nightstand from another set for my room as well. It was worth every penny, took him many hours to get it all together, although I think this bed was the least of his complaints. This bed is extremely sturdy, the entire Laguna set is. I couldn’t believe how heavy and solid it all feels for the price I paid. The finish on the nightstand and chest have stood up to bangs, crashes, spills, hot plates, cold drinks, water rings, the whole 9 yards a typical teenage boy would put his furniture through. After 15-16 months it all still looks brand new. My son weighs 160 pounds and he flops like a fish out of water when he sleeps. I mean.. the boy goes from the top of the bed to the bottom and back again like a hand on a clock several times during the night. This bed is SILENT. His last traditional box springs, mattress, and metal frame were so noisy he drove me (and probably the neighbors) crazy. I can’t hear him moving at all now from my bedroom, aside from the random knuckles hitting the headboard during a flop. I know I already said sturdy.. but I mean, really sturdy. I weigh 250, he weighs 160, and the mattress is around 80 pounds. We do a weekly movie(s) night with popcorn and Netflix and inevitably fall asleep watching them. It supports us both without protest or creak. The only drawback – there’s a wooden support going vertically down the middle that the slats will lay across to keep from bending or breaking in the middle. I bought an 8 inch memory foam mattress for him and while it’s insanely comfortable, you can feel this support beam in the center. If you’re a solo, middle-of-the-bed sleeper, you are gonna need a thicker mattress. I’m not sure how much thicker, but definitely not the cheap 8 inch kind. You won’t notice it if you’re staying on either side or an edge sleeper. If you’re trying to pick this bed up from the store, take a guy. Take a couple guys. I had it delivered to home and had to open the boxes outside at my door and carry the pieces upstairs a couple at a time. I couldn’t even move the boxes inside the house first by myself. All in all, I’d HIGHLY recommend the entire Laguna set, they’re quality stuff.
- So far bed is sturdy and meeting my expectations. Beware: you may need a power drill to open up the holes and tighten some of the screws. Also, one person could assemble the bed, but its easiest with two.
- FedEx delivered this bed in 3 different boxes within three days of ordering (I only paid $3 for shipping) super fast delivery. The bed took about 3 hours to put together by me and a friend (you will need someone else to help you, it is very difficult to do alone). Bed is sturdy, does not shake when laying on it. If you put the bed together right and tighten the screws really well then it should not fall apart or break that easily. (which people seem to be complaining about) The bed is nice quality for the price, difficult to put together but worth it in the end.
- I bought this bed because I like how it look and because it had so many good reviews. Well I guess I shouldn’t have. It came in three boxes which makes it easier to identify the parts but it’s a pain in the butt to set up (took us about 3 hours) and it’s really heavy. It does look nice, sturdy and not cheap after it’s set up but one of the side felt off after a month. When we try to fix it, pieces of wood (or I must say the pressboard) kept falling off.
