While I’m more of a CW kind of guy, I figured this was a cheap way to get the lead character of Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. This speeder, first off, is great for either reenacting Rey’s life on Jakku or just a random speeder in a large display; it really is just a generic speeder; no decals, no allegiance to immediately associate it with by appearance. However, it’s very unique in that it’s not a BARC speeder or one that we’ve seen before and looks like all the rest. Minifigures: All right, the minifigs. Rey was necessary for a set that was only her speeder, so no surprises there. One of the things I’m most glad for is that they included both her unique hair element and her unique hood, instead of one or the other. This really expands the ability for reenactment, as you’re not stuck with either one element or the other. Unkar’s Thug….I’ve never seen him in the movie, but I may have missed him. He’s cool, in that he has an exclusive robotic face (not exclusive for long!), a gray hood (most are black or blue), and a golden crowbar. Overall though, I’m not too sure what role he plays. Speeder: I love LEGO’s ability to pack functions into even the tiny vehicles. Rey’s Speeder is no exception. By turning the bottom engine either way, it opens the sides of the speeder, revealing a storage crate with extra ammo for the stud blasters. This was a neat function, even though it was never seen in the movie. I really like the sticker that LEGO uses for the control panel; it’s unique and very interesting. Overall the speeder was a good size, very movie-accurate with two exceptions: The twin guns in the front were not there in the movie, but I guess LEGO felt obligated to put some weaponry since they have a thug attacking her. Second, in the movie there was a net on the left side of the speeder that Rey would put her findings into. LEGO Rey’s Speeder? No net. That would have been an awesome addition. Instead, they put a blaster, buzz saw, and binoculars…? Never saw any of those in the movie – in fact, Rey didn’t even know how to use a blaster when she was first given one. (They were nice elements to get, though.) Overall it was a good set, but unless you’re an Episode VII enthusiast, I would recommend getting the Rey figure in another set, like the Millennium Falcon, but it’s not a bad set to have; again, the speeder is very versatile in how and where it can be used .
- Rey’s Speeder set is a great entry into the Star Wars universe. The speeder is a nice build that took approx 1 hour and comes with two mini-figures: Rey and Unkar’s Thug. Rey is a great mini-figure with a satchel, pistol and staff accessories. She also comes with a sand mask, or optional hair. The design of the speeder is great, with fantastic detail, nice sticker sets, and openable storage flaps on the body via the thrusters on the back, which you twist to open. However, I am disappointed that you can’t actually fit anything into the storage containers. High price for the amount of pieces, nevertheless, a nice set and a great addition to my collection.
- Great set at a great value! I was looking forward to building this set after seeing the movie. It didn’t disappoint. Pros: – Value. – Playability. Spin the thruster and the sides open up to reveal a small storage bay. – Great minifigures. – Detail. Cons: – The only negative about this set is the bulky size. I always like sets that are true to the minifigures scale. This one is close, but is a bit thick.
- this set is one of my faviourite star wars sets, I love the vibrant colours and play features and the rey minifigure is excellent. The build is really good and stands up well, it was fun to make and the end product is a very pleasing speeder that you will spend ages playing with. The gungan thug minifigure is ok, his face printing and hood are the best aspects, reys outfit is accurate to the film, her mask is so cool looking and she even comes with extra hair and lots of tools. I wish BB-8 was in this set, he could fit in a little net on the side, I think that is the only thing I would change about this set. overall it’s a great star wars set for a low price, great build and a great minifigure.
- The set in total is a great model, it really represents the movie model well from what we have seen in the only trailers. The speeder is proportioned well to the figures. I do have one large complaint with this set. When I opened the package and built the minifigures, i realized that Rey had a large crack on her side. This crack was devastating to me because the minifigures in this new Star Wars wave motivated me to buy some of the sets. This large crack made it so her arm has very little friction in it and her bottoms become loose. I am a long time Lego fan and this is the first time that something like this has happened. I am not sure if this error is part of a mass manufacturing error, or if it is a stand alone incident. This is not the quality I expect from Lego.
