• I was on the fence about this purchase. I’m so glad I bought it. So far I’ve smoked ribs and turkey breast in it. My husband said it was the best smoked turkey he had ever eaten. Does have a short cord but would have needed an extension cord outside anyway. Some reviews said only one pocket of chips would smoke. I did not have that problem. It smoked beautifully. The best smoke for food is a thin blue and that is just what I got. Checked the temp several times during cooking and it was just right. The best part is that cleanup was a breeze. All smoke and residue came off with minimal effort.
• So with our big family (50-60 if we’re all present), we have the BIG roasters that will do a whole hog … but there are still times when you’re only having say 20 or so. This roaster fills the bill perfectly. Plus you can take it with you without hiring a moving van. Or use it for a big batch of beans, potatoes, etc. A must have for any cook that ever serves more than 4 people.
• This smoker is a very nice substitute for a charcoal/wood smoker. It works as advertised. Two improvements would make it excellent 1 an on/off switch 2 a longer and heavier power cord so you dont have to use an extennsion cord. It does a great job on ribs especially.
• I love this and have smoked brisket, chicken and I am smoking spare ribs right now! My concern is longevity, the paint is already starting to peel after 5 to 6 uses in about 3 weeks.
• I smoked ribs in this (we already have 3 other smokers) and they were excellent!!! Best ribs I have had. Then I roasted a chicken, again, great success and beautiful without worrying about basting it, turned out picture perfect and delicious. I am now getting ready to smoke a chicken and know it will be perfect also. Only thing I am a little unhappy about is the fact there is no “off” switch, you plug it in and it is on. Anyone thinking about making this purchase, do it, you won’t be disappointed!
• There are two pockets for wood chips to provide smoke. 10 minutes into the first use, the element in one pocket burned out and quit providing smoke. Within 5 minutes of the second use, the other pocket also burned out. without any smoke, it ain’t a smoker. Into the garbage it goes.
