- I always buy this bird food – it is excellent. Recently the 40 pound bag is not available at my local Walmart. Not sure it was discontinued or they were out of stock. The 20 lb. bag is less of a deal. I’ll continue to look to see if the 40 lb. bag comes back.
- Although I have yet to purchase this online, I have bought it several times in store and will continue. It’s the base I use to make my own blend for all the feeders in our backyard. It keeps ’em coming back for more every day. Haven’t found any bag to contain more than the usual non food debris and most are pretty clean. This feed helps the winter birds such as he Cardinal’s, Tufted Titmouse, Black & White Warblers, Sparrows, and the Squirrels too. I put he seed in my Squirrel proof steel bird feeder to make it available o the birds only. I also spread the same feed on the ground around the bird feeder for the squirrels and the birds. It came just in time before the first big snow we ave and temperatures below zero. The nut inside the shell is high in protein which will help the birds and squirrels keep a healthy coat and layer of fat, and for energy. I live about 30 feet from a thick forest, and believe me “I get plenty of bird traffic. So, if you are a bird lover and care about making sure they have plenty of high quality all natural bird feed, PENNINGTON Back Oil Sunflower Seeds will keep your bird traffic heavy and a joy for me and my cat to watch. No worries about my cat getting to the birds. She is an indoor Orange Tabby and she lays flat on the inside window sill and makes a chirping sound when she sees he beautiful birds. - Birds are really eating seed fast. bought another feeder in hopes of feeding the larger birds too. The price on this seed was great but I think it might have gone up. Looks like I will have to purchase more soon, hope the price will be the same as before.
- My neighborhood squirrels and chipmunks absolutely love the black oil sunflower seeds. A large flock of doves also flies in to eat it.
- The seeds themselves are enjoyed by the birds I feed, but the reason it is inexpensive is that someone is getting away with adding little sticks in the quantity of about 5%.
