Whether you are sitting around a campfire, setting up the inside of your tent or doing various other camp chores, the Coleman Premium Dual Fuel Lantern with Carry Case makes camping easier and more fun. It comes with a hard carry case to prevent damage if you should drop it along your way. It conveniently runs on either the Coleman liquid fuel or regular gasoline. This makes it less costly to use than propane lanterns. It also burns for up to seven hours when turned on high with just one tank of fuel. The adjustable knob allows you to set the brightness to the level you need, from 861 lumens down. This is ideal when you just want a little light as you get ready for bed. The brightest setting makes it easier to do some bedtime reading if you aren’t sleepy yet. It also lights your way when you need to go back to your vehicle or head to the bathhouse. This Coleman fuel lantern is dependable and even works in the coldest conditions. Use it to brighten up your next camping trip.

    • My husband thinks his Christmas present of a Coleman Dual-Fuel Lantern is great. He has already used it camping and had no problem lighting it and getting it started. He has no complaints about it at all. Great gift.
    • I did get the discounted version, the regular price is a bit much. Great for the price that I bought it at. Love having the option of multi fuel, especially when the white gas is way more expensive than unleaded.
    • In the fist picture you will see the new 2016 A285 on the left at full brightness. On the right my 1940 Coleman 220D at full brightness. The older Coleman is both much larger and heavier but also after 76 years still puts more light! I’m sure it will still out last the smaller new Coleman made of stamped steel and plastic. The glass in the new lantern is not pyrex like the old ones and seems to small and restricts the holes making it harder to light the mantels. It in fact is so under size that it is hard to center and is off to one side with out being centered each time before lighting. I just found out they do make a larger A295 called the power house , it should be brighter . I would go with that and hope the construction is better too. At the end of the day to get a new lantern with case just over $60.00 its not a bad deal, if your packing in and want something small and light it’s my first choice. But this is not father’s or grandfathers Coleman lantern.
    • I’m an expert on camping lanterns. That’s because I’ve spent money on electric lanterns, propane lanterns, and my beloved 20 year old Coleman dual-mantle gas lantern. Unlike grills, where I’ve long been sold on propane, I always keep coming back to my Coleman for the lantern. The best way to explain why this is requires a real-world example. So please bear with me. Last night I was camping at a public camp ground with tents all over the place. As the sun went down, I loaded up my Coleman with about 2/3 a tank of fuel. I pumped it up and ran it at near max output for an hour as I cooked and ate. Then I pumped it up one more time and dropped the output to a polite level. By 9pm, the guys using the electric lanterns had shut them down as batteries are expensive. The propane guys were dropping their output to minimum, which is about half of max for a propane lantern before it cuts out. By 10pm the propane lanterns were too bright to be polite, and out they went. By 10:30, there were two camps still running lanterns. Both were Coleman gas lanterns. In addition to having a pleasing yellow cast to the light at low output, the Coleman can be adjusted to much lower output than the propane lanterns can. Enough light to see your way around your camp site, but not so much as to keep your neighbors from star gazing. Dual-mantle propane lanterns are also annoyingly noisy by the way. When I woke up this morning, my Coleman was still running and I had to shut it off for packing up. So there really is no comparison when it comes to lanterns. Propane grills and the Coleman gas lantern. That’s the way to make sure you max out your enjoyment when camping. Oh, and spring for an inflatable mattress and don’t forget to take a pillow. Trash bags come in handy too. Enjoy.
    • I was tired of not seeing well after dark in our campsite. We had a battery operated light that just did not put out the light we needed. I bought this hoping for enough light not to trip on fireplace rings, tent guy wires etc after dark. This lantern is perfect. At almost 900 lumens it puts out plenty of light. I found the instructions not as helpful as I had hoped for but with our friends at YouTube I was up and running in about 10 minutes. You will want to fill the lantern before each use (I use unleaded gas) to get the most light possible. As the fuel is used up the lantern will light but is most effective when full.
    • I have both propane and liquid fuel (aka “Coleman Fuel”) lanterns. I have to say that I greatly prefer the liquid fuel lanterns for many reasons. First, the ability to burn gasoline if necessary (although it is recommended to use Coleman Fuel when possible) is a huge advantage. Also, unlike those small 1-lb propane tanks, you always know how much liquid fuel you have before you light the lantern. Many of us have many partly-used canisters from past trips and don’t know how much is in them. Liquid fuel, even Coleman fuel that has gone up in price over the years, is much more cost-efficient than the small propane tanks. It is true that propane offers some advantages that liquid fuel doesn’t – safety for one, but if you have common sense you should be fine.
    • This is such a great buy, love the lantern, works great, not super bright but more than enough for a camp ground.
